Freitas, who doesn’t do homework, claimed: This is historical fact.
Pssst…the League of Nations existed before WW-II. Set up after WW-I to avoid conflicts like the Great War.
Had the UN existed at the start of World War 2, Germany, Russia, and Japan would have won–with America at best left alone and isolated.
Eh? The World War wasn’t about the USA…
Er, it’s in the title: ”World War”.
wtfallnamestaken said “Raise taxes to pay for the costs of these wars and see how long the republicans support them.”
Better yet, start a draft and share the deaths across America and see how long it lasts. If we had an all volunteer force in the 60s and 70s we’d still be in Vietnam, because people just don’t care unless it is their son, daughter, brother, sister, mom or dad.
Cheers fennec. I hereby desist from any further attempts at engaging with or convincing Scott of anything. As I’ve noted before, the guy’s stony ground anyway.
no wtfall. you forget that america only won wars BEFORE the united nations existed.
Ever since the UN was created, america has lost–or been stalemated–in every conflict we’ve been involved in.
This is historical fact. Had the UN existed at the start of World War 2, Germany, Russia, and Japan would have won–with America at best left alone and isolated. Basically just like Israel, only without all the Arabs on our borders…

What? Germany, Russia and Japan would have won? dude, they were on opposite SIDES. Germany and Japan were allied together, true. But Russia (and I think you mean the Soviet Union) was on OUR side. They all three couldnt not have won.
The League of Nations was OUR idea. President Wilson suggested it in order to prevent future wars. It was part of his Fourteen Points for Peace.
And lets talk about wars won and lost. You win when you get what you want. When you meet yor goals. The goal of Korea and Viet Nam was to stop Communism from spreading. As far as I’m concerned, we won. Sure, we left Viet Nam hanging, but as far as America is concerned, who cares? Communism was stopped, we met our goal. Korea was the same way. Look at South Korea today, they’re a major industiralized nation. Fifty years ago it was a dump. We won. We won in the Gulf. And we’re winning in Iraq and Afghanistan. We’re getting what we want.
It’s time for people to quit saying we lost those wars. Those were all political wins. If I’m in a fight with you I don’t have to kill you to win, I just have to beat you down enough to get my way. We’ve always gotten our way, always. The United States of America does what it wants, when it wants and how it wants to do it. If you think that is the behavior of a country that loses wars then you are an idiot.
fennec, great link. I saw this on the Rachel Maddow show last week and agree whole heartedly that the village cannot go about it’s business to accomodate the village idiot. Ignore them and get on with the business at hand.
