Austrians were pretty good at adhering to mask mandates early on in the pandemic and still do on public transport & within shops. It also has one of the highest testing rates in the world (we test 2-3 times a week) but there is a persistent 13% who absolutely refuse to get vaccinated (with a strong correlation with supporters of the FPÖ, their far-right party), and a small certain percentage who remain sceptical. Currently, Austria is 71% fully vaccinated and 75% with a 1st dose. Portugal has 89% fully vaccinated & 97% with a first dose. Both Portugal & Austria already allow 12+ to get vaccinated – my 13yr old is fully vaxxed – but these percentages only reflect the adult population. EU average is 73% fully vaccinated & 79% with the 1st vaccine, so Austria is slightly BELOW the EU average.
Just as long as we’re at one end of the rankings,or the ther. Can’t be first? Let’s go for the other end
