    Better yet, pay the CEO’s and other big execs a fair wage for what they actually do, which is pretty much NOTHING.

    slow and steady wins the race.

    And it would be nice, cabrobst, if we could return to those days when CEOs and execs were paid more in line with their workers. I believe it was somewhere in the 80s that their compensation started shooting through the roof. But only in this country. The disparity between worker and exec is nowhere near as large in most (all?) other rich nations.

    Fair tax sounds nice - the United States is at war (albeit unconstitutionally, as the US Congress has not declared war - see Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution) and a million million dollars a year is being spent on its military. Under these circumstances, the tax rates current during the last major war - WW II - would seem to be eminently fair, and would, moreover, meet the Jeffersonian principle of not leaving huge debts for coming generations (in the event there are any) to pay….
