They will rip out sidings that see low traffic counts, tell customers that want to ship by rail with less than carload lot to buzz off and use trucks increase train lengths to reduce the number of trains and block local highway traffic. You should look at the Union Pacific Railroad, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, Norfolk Southern, Canadian National RailRoad and Canadian Pacific; and how “Precision Scheduled Railroading” ment to move frieght and commodities more efficiently DOES NOT WORK and has driven hundreds of their employees into simply quiting, retirement or finding other work because of the schedules and being on call/on rest that can be stopped the minute the phone rings with a call from a dispatcher telling them to report to the terminal with less than the mandatory rest. The Reason AMTRAK is in such rough shape is because of the frieght railroads
