Our modern-day gladiator arena demands fresh bodies to feed to the grinder.

Sadly, Ahab has an excellent point. No sport that I know of, heck, no activity of any kind that I know of, is completely without some kind of risk. But this strip hits home in a big way today. A popular 17-year-old boy from one of our local high schools was injured in a football game Friday evening. He died night before last of his injuries. Do we still love football? Yes. Do the kids continue to play? Yes. How do we reconcile the love of the game with the risks of the game, particularly when they affect our young people? I truly don’t know. The chain is an apt metaphor.

Maybe Redskins should be replaced with Whiteskins, or Blackskins, or Pinkskins?? Or Pigskins?

Nope…The country was created by mostly conservative dudes that were INSPIRED by the “liberal” intelligentsia" of the day; i.e., “The Age of Enlightenment”. The French Revolution – those were liberals.
