I am so tired of the idiots who call Social Security and Medicare “entitlements”. We have paid taxes all our working lives to be able to have these earned benefits. They are only entitlements to the free loaders who get them without having paid up front. Some without having bothered to work and think they are “entitled” to benefits other people paid for. Some who come here from other countries not to work but to freeload. Some who move to states that give benefits whether you have earned them or not from states that are keeping the benefits going to the people who paid their dues during their working lives.

The county I was living in threatened to cut emergency services (and did slightly) but still managed to come up with a few million to expand the county parks and park services. I thought that their priorities were….interesting.

I think it will hurt the elephants in the room. People are not all fooled, only those who choose to be.

I made my lengthy post on this under Mr. Anderson’s cartoon for today.I hope our conservative friends are right and this is just the hard medicine our nation needs. It is hard to believe that is the case of these untargeted across the board cuts. There will be costs for which no one has planned, and I fear, consequences. But they’ll most likely kick it down the road until closer to the 2014 elections. But Mr. Obama is only an accessory to this crime against a nation. Had Repubs and Dems worked in a sincere and bipartisan manner, this could have all been avoided. Obama’s crime is signing the legislation they put on his desk in order to prevent this from happening in 2010.Regretfully,C.

Anyone trying to put the “blame” on a single individual, need look no further than John Boehner, period. He called the shots for the morons in his party, and passed this, to try to defame Obama, again, which is all they’ve done for four years.

What a great point, except most of those you call Rednecks wanted “W” to cut spending and definitely want the “Shopper in Chief” to cut spending.

In the President’s words:“Now, Congress, back in 2011, also passed a law saying that if both parties couldn’t agree on a plan to reach that $4 trillion goal, about a trillion dollars of additional, arbitrary budget cuts would start to take effect this year. And by the way, the whole design of these arbitrary cuts was to make them so unattractive and unappealing that Democrats and Republicans would actually get together and find a good compromise of sensible cuts as well as closing tax loopholes and so forth. And so this was all designed to say we can’t do these bad cuts; let’s do something smarter. That was the whole point of this so-called sequestration.

Unfortunately, Congress didn’t compromise. They haven’t come together and done their jobs, and so as a consequence, we’ve got these automatic, brutal spending cuts that are poised to happen next Friday. "

Quit with the lie that it was Obama’s sequester. He’s against it, and has an alternative. The Republicans say they’re against it, but have NO alternative.

Policemen, Firemen, Teachers, etc, are paid by the state and local governments…not the Feds. One more lie to try and scare people into pouring more of their earnings down the rathole of overspending and waste.
