They are NOT hypocrites. Seriously: They said they were going to do this, and they’re doing it. Is it ethical? Absolutely not. Is it the same behavior as when Obama was President? Absolutely not. Is it their policy? Absolutely.
In the primaries, Joe Biden reiterated the view he has long expressed: that he opposes politicizing the court, and that includes expanding the number of justices.
In the primaries, Pete Buttigieg and Elizabeth Warren (my first choice) both supported a structured expansion that would be fair to future presidents, a proposal that I supported and which Joe Biden opposed.
But now we are faced with a different situation. As Biden expressed in his ABC town hall (after Trump became the first president in 32 years to chicken out of a debate under the terms of the Commission on Presidential debates, which has always been chaired by a Republican), he still opposes politicizing the court and does not like the idea of expanding the court.
—) The biscuits in the Republican policy oven have been “squattin’ to rise” for years. Now, with this extra measure of “Clabber Girl” baking powder those biscuits are likely to triple or quadruple in height: Good eatin’ for the One Percenters, to go with their meat and to sop up the gravy! There maybe/might be extra crumbs falling to us poor relatives not sitting at the Big Folks table … if the pet dogs don’t get them first.
The Republican Party, in spite of it’s rhetoric, has one and only one objective; the preservation of Wealthy White Male Privilege. All policies are aimed at preserving and furthering that single goal. The nomination of Amy Coney Barrett, a good Catholic Woman who “knows her place,” is a prime example of the camouflage used to hide their true motive. (It also explains why, now fours years later, Hillary Clinton continues to inspire such fear and loathing in the GOP membership.)
More than your usual hypocrisy on this judging thing. trump brags how he packed a whole pile of courts, from the lower courts up to the top.. and now the republicans are already complaining that “Joe” might do the same.. Good grief.
A Democratic control of the Senate should use the opportunity to do several things to combat the Koch’s efforts to undo our Democracy: Make Puerto Rico and DC states, split the 9th US Circut, then add 5 seats to the SCOTUS to come even with the number of US Circuits and finally undo the electoral college.

Humph. Calling the Republicans hypocrites is like firing a pea-shooter at a battleship. They won’t even notice, let alone feel bad about it…

Wouldn’t a balanced court be nice? When Biden wins, maybe adding 3 more would be helpful.

It’s not just the Supreme Court: McConnell et. al have packed the entire system. We will need to get busy impeaching the unqualified ones ASAP

Can the SCOTUS declare sea level rise to be unconstitutional? Or forbid GHG’s from trapping heat? Flooding? Droughts?

Catalyst for Catastrophe – {4 beats/line}
The Donald is getting booed and hissed; -
- for much that is wrong, he’s a catalyst.
{Tho’ wrong he’ll persist: // – a recidivist.}
Our nation’s demise // he’ll catalyze
with policies unwise // based bigly on lies
and lotsa dissembling, // – his “truths” not resembling
the realities of Fact. – - – Trump has us trembling.
