Boy: What did you do in the war, Grampa? Bernie Sanders: There he was: Donald Trump, the biggest threat to American values in history, coming over the hill right at us. Well, I called Hillary Clinton and I said Hillary, we've got to reform these rules about superdelegates before we do another thing.

Bernie…..time to work with Hillary; not fight with her. We just can’t get stuck with tRump.

I suppose the fact that Bernie has said from the start that, whoever gets the nomination, the goal is to beat Trump would have simply ruined the cartoon. You’re better than this, Tom.

We have met the enemy, and they is Trump voters.

Bernie bots hate Hillary and don’t care if Trump wins. Pouting children, just like Republicans so no surprise there.

Thank you, TJDestry. Agree completely.

Bernie won! He set out to awaken a movement, to revive pre-Reagan social awareness, to put the term “socialist” back in American politics, and to point out the failure of the rule of wealth. He is going to the Convention with an influence on the Platform and the right to speak from the podium—that was what he set out to accomplish. Bernie won round one, now on to the big contest: removing the failed neoliberal policies that have created this poor-mouthing rich nation!

I’d prefer to vote for Bernie. Will vote for Hillary. No poll taker has asked me.…I’ll never vote for tRump or any other republican again.

I guess it doesn’t make any difference that Hillary was very close to winning enough delegates to win without the super delegates. I guess it doesn’t make any difference that Bernie had no idea how to pay for free everything or how he was going to convince all those congress people he has worked with for decades to vote for his proposals. It would be nice if someone would interject a little reality into these discussions rather than new and expanded versions of the ideology they favor.

Clinton won the popular vote, and received more Super Delegates than Sanders. More likely, once Clinton has been elected, Republicans will try to come up with a Super Delegate system that prevents the likes of another Trump. It has taken the Democrat party a while to recover from their Senator George McGovern moment. Good luck with your Trump legacy.

Bravo, TT. Another hit at Hillary out of nowhere….

Ted LindYou might look to the civilized countries who have no problem providing these “free” benefits to citizens. Just go north and see universal health care – for half what the US pays. California once had tuition-free education from kindergarten through PhD if you made the grades. They were producing nobel prize winners like an assembly line; they don’t do that any more – both free tuition and nobel prizes.

The conservative pundit David Brooks correctly points out that this is a “McCarthy Moment”, when later people will wonder WHY the hell not everybody in the country stood up and asked Trump, “At long last, have you no shame?” (Not to pick on the mentally ill or anything, but Trump has neither the sense nor the sanity to feel shame.)

@hippogriffTo answer your question from yesterday, Godwin is like Murphy. They both have laws and/or sayings and/or epigrams and/or aphorisms, and they don’t NEED no credentials!

You just don’t get it, Tom!

Your comment is hateful, untrue, and as good as a vote for Trump. Hence the cartoon: Tom Toles has your number.

Of course, McGovern was a war hero and Little Donnie was a draft dodger, thanks first of all to Daddy’s Money and second of all from faking an injury (which Daddy’s Money helped him to do……..)

Cartoons like this show why Bernie has remained in the race. He is trying to start a progressive movement in the Democratic party. But this point has been missed by many supposed liberals and they say Bernie is power hungry, delusional, his supporters are sexist or many other false ideas.

I can obviously speak only for myself. I have been a Bernie supporter from the start of his campaign. He did far better than I ever expected, and I’m delighted with the results. He has affected the conversation, which I thought was all he really wanted, but he has done even more than that. He has affected and will affect the party platform. He has brought everyone’s attention to the issues he is most concerned with. He has stirred the passions and hopefully activated a great many new voters.
I am no fan of HRC, but she is at least intelligent, qualified, and capable. I, and most conservatives I know, are appalled (their word) by Drumpf. I will vote for HRC in the fall, assuming she is the candidate. It is my sincere hope that Drumpf will take the kind of electoral beating that McGovern, who I loved, and Mondale, who I didn’t, did. But I no longer have any faith that I have seen the worst of the US electorate. Every time I have thought we’ve reached bottom, we have commenced digging.

Lemme guess @ superposition — you fought real hard for Gore in 2000?

I find it interesting that you let Conservative lies influence your decisions. You’ll love President Trump.

GodfreydanielThanks. I suspected as much, but yours is the first I have encountered to support the suspicion.

Thanks Tom, for doing your part to throw Bernie under the bus. The only decent human to run as a Democrat since Jimmy Carter.
