White House Man 1: A small price to pay for getting a climate deal. White House Man 2: Except we didn't get a climate deal. Man 1: I wondered why negotiations with myself were going so smoothly.
I’d live to see the No party huff over this one. “We need to repeal offshore drilling so we can get ANWR drilling.”
Are there enough earthquake prone fault lines available to accommodate the new nuke power plants?
<=======Drill baby drill!
You’re getting a lot of mileage out of that line av8tor, but:
-Obama has no control over Brazilian drilling.
-“we are paying” is incorrect unless you are a private oil company.
-George Soros can spend his billions any way he wants.
I know it’s nice to harp on nuclear waste but hybrid batteries aren’t really much better. The “better” these batteries get the more difficult they are to recycle.
So what should we do? Here’s what I expect – lots more nuclear over the next fifty years. I don’t say I like it, I just say I expect it.
I wasn’t aware of that information av8tor, and it does seem strange. Although the Export-Import Bank will finance foreign projects where U.S. goods and services are involved.
I’ve been an “environmentalist” since the mid 1950’s. I spent a career working for conservation and protection of the environment. I too like to be able to flip a light switch, or travel, or eat food that’s delivered to my local grocery.
The difference is that “multiple use” management of land, public or otherwise is NOT the same as multiple ABUSE of the land and resources.
Nobody’s going to stop flipping those light switches. But WE need some sound energy policy to replace the devastation of our past profligate ABUSE policies. Yes, that will include continued, but better controlled oil production. The highest producing well CONOCO owns is in the waters of VIET NAM, we get the highest percentage of our “imported” oil FROM CANADA, then their is Africa, and elsewhere.
Being a liberal conservationist, and a modern American “intelligent” consumer are NOT mutually exclusive. BOTH sides in the argument need to pull their heads out, take a breath of fresh air, and work toward logical, achievable goals. The trick is the “American consumer” needs to get a lot more intelligent about their habits and practices. Conservation of energy, basic use of Btus on a daily basis can be greatly improved in relation to efficiency. We just need to do it instead of talking about it.
THAT is the terrible threshold Obama has finally shown the guts to cross- The line in the sand should have been drawn here at home in many respects, not just oil, and not just in Iraq or Afghanistan.
When you talk about the American consumer needing to get more intelligent about habits and practices, could you also include the military? Just imagine the amount of energy required to haul all that firepower around the world, the jet fuel to fly thousands of missions, the diesel fuel to power those aircraft carriers and supply ships, the fuel to maintain supply lines, and on and on. However, I see they have a fighter aircraft now powered by bio-mass fuel. That’s progress - kills people but saves the environment!
It REMAINS to be seen what Obama will get. Judging from the past, the President will get what he wants and what our country needs…
We’re using more UAVs to handle surveillance. They use less gas than … say … our F-35’s.
^^By “extremists” you do mean those on the right AND those on the left… right?
