Let us not forget the infamous politico that stated: “The receptive capability of the masses is limited, their understanding small. On the other hand, they have a great power of forgetting.”
B.O.H.I.C.A.
Cheers!
The GOP wants total paralysis because then there won’t be anything keeping them from stealing whatever money they didn’t get around to stealing before. Who would stop them? The voters?—-Naaaah!
The Republicans have been in charge for 20 of the last 28 years, including the last 8. I think they have had time enough to show us what they do and what happens when they are in charge – the rich get richers, poor poorer, and the middle class smaller, but government gets bigger (have to have people too watch us, we can’t be trusted), spending goes up, national debt goes up, prices go up, but taxes don’t, and Oh Yes we invade other countries.
Let’s give the Democrats a little more time – it’s been less then a year, and the Republicans have fought them all the way.
^^ The Constitution was written to protect The People from The Tyranny of the Majority. We have a bicameral Congress, an Electoral College, an Executive branch, and a Judicial branch setup by design to oppose each other specifically to blunt the overwhelming effects of simple majorities. The filibuster rule is a prime example of such a safety net.
The US political system is inefficient. That is good. An efficient Federal Government could be a great danger to an apathetic populace. By being so bloated and self-interest centered, Congress moves slowly enough that even our media and mildly slow thinkers can catch on before the damage is irreparable.

As my dad used to say, no one ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

Abolish the filibuster rule! It is not in the constitution. Democracy is supposed to be MAJORITY rule, not 40% wrench in the works!
