This is an allegory for us going into Syria after making a mess of Iraq.

Especially considering the horrendous videos that have been coming out, rebel leaders eating hearts, rebels shooting captured government forces and dumping their bodies in a well… this is definitely a lose-lose situation to get involved in.

I must regretfully inform you that the United Kingdom considers the kingdoms of Narnia and Archenland, the Western Isles and the Calormen Empire to be part of her sphere of influence.

Her Majesty’s Government will not tolerate any interference in the sovereign affairs of these proud and independent nations.

However, we will consider granting concessions, in return for similar concessions with regards to the Kingdoms of Oz. We also hold no present interest in the areas known as the Northern and Eastern Wastes.

Oh, and on a more serious note, If the West wants to be seen to be doing something meaningful, make plentiful medical supplies, gas masks and NAAK kits available to everyone in Syria. NAAK kits can ameliorate the effects of nerve gas lonk enougth for the victim to survive to make it to hospital, which is where the medical supplies (and perhaps trained medics) come in. The NATO and Ex Soviet Bloc countries have massive amounts of anti-NBC equipment and supplies in storage which they could use, and I’m sure this is an idea that Russia is more likely to support.

All credit due to author Charles Stross for coming up with this idea.

Incidentally, the Syrian rebels have been asking for this stuff since the first gas attacks at least six months ago.

Narnia will certainly fall in line with the hard-line Aslan clerics, because otherwise those Tash-holes in Calormen. After Peter redraws the borders, ethnic Tashbaan refugees seeking amnesty in Narnia will be rebuffed, enraging the Calormenes, who will start sending suicide wizards into Cair Paravel.

What is the thing (or things) behind the radio in the two panels before the final panel? Toto seems to be sitting on the seat, but is it a piece of farm equipment, or what?

Ironically in the Narnia stories the Pevensie kids did stick around to win the peace as the new Government
