Some “expiration dates” are just “sell by” guidelines for the store, others have a long margin for error. It’s a good idea to learn how to tell for yourself what is spoiled and what not to trust. Sometimes food spoils before the expiration date if it’s not stored right. Educate yourself and don’t throw away money and the resources it took to produce that food.

A family member who is a pharmacist says most medications don’t “expire”, but may lose effectiveness over time. So if it’s a heart medication, take it seriously. If its for a headache, no problem. Also, spices have expiration dates, but they will just become less potent over time, so you can use them, but maybe up the amount you use. Bottom line….use your brain.
