The Elderberries by Corey Pandolph and Phil Frank and Joe Troise for June 13, 2005
Boy: Mister Dusty...when you were a kid did you go to McDonald's for lunch? Dusty: 'Fraid not, buckaroo...see...I was raised during the Great Depression. Most folks didn't have money to go out to eat...I remember...my momma would give me a nickel to buy day-old bread if they had any. Girl: What if the store was out of bread? Dusty: Well, momma would spread butter on our hands and tell us to lick it off. Girl: No way!!
