Larry must hate washing the car, as well. Since kids emulate their parents, If Larry wants Toby to good a job, at and earlier age, he must instill a passion in Toby for doing the job in the first place.

As for Larry liking to trim the bushes, that bird flew the coop along time ago.

Try this: “I asked you to do it. I didn’t ask you to do it poorly.”

It takes less time to do it right the first time than having to do it again. Takes awhile for kids to learn this.

Yep. No excuses, do the job. Because someday you will have to do the job yourself, for yourself. So, learn how to do it now, the right way, in a timely way, while you can. But, we didn’t get allowances, our parents didn’t think we should be paid to help keep up the place we lived in, ate in, and got shelter from the various elements in, etc.

My father used to ask me to shovel the sidewalk while it was still snowing out. One blizzard, I shoveled all the way to the curb, then turned around and had to shovel all the way back because it had filled in already.
