    The Titanic might have survived the collision if A) it had been built with the proper thickness of steel*, and B) a huge coal fire hadn’t started in one of the bunkers before it even left Belfast, weakening the hull.

    *the company was in financial trouble and went cheap on things that most people wouldn’t notice.
