I’m minded of the sweet old lady in the ad for digital TV boxes. “Can I get Jack Benny now?” Funny thing is, now she can, assuming she has Antenna TV in her area…
Years ago in Japan, I bought items from a shop keeper. He pulled out a calculator to add up the bill and determine the change. He reached under the counter and got an abacus to double check the calculation.
The age of the majority of GoComic commentors is apparent. Put up a millennial stereotype joke and everyone lauds it, put up a senior citizen stereotype and there’s rejection. LOL too funny.
I know quite a few youngsters who are very tech savvy…but can’t seem to figure out how to use any of it to express a simple thanks for the gifts they receive from older relatives.

Sorry… but who do these whippersnappers think invented the internet and computers?
The Nanas who couldn’t understand tech back in the 90’s are IN their 90’s now… or older… or have passed on.
The new Nanas got computers 30 years ago.
Some of the women in this class look to be only perhaps 50 or 60… they may have been using computers since high school.
I hate the assumption by 20-year-old salespeople in Office Depot or Costco that older women are computer illiterate…
it isn’t true any more…. we can teach you a thing or two, sweetie…. and I have!
I love Argyle Sweater, and I know the pun… which IS funny…. is the rationale here.
Hard to resist a good pun,
but still, I’m hoping this particular stereotype dies out soon.Major Matt Mason Premium Member over 4 years ago

Nanas have caught up with tech. “You never write. You never call. You never text.”

To be fair, the numeric keypad on the phone app is virtually identical to the one on the calculator.
