I didn’t want to believe this, but maybe brother Brutus is a born loser. He had a chance to look industrious to his boss and blew it. As has been said, “He’s his own worst enemy.”

Yes, it means you will get more of the same. Nothing.

Now that Brutus has worked through lunch and proved he can do it, I suspect Veeblefester will now require our intrepid office worker to do so from this point forward. After all, it is a way to get Brutus to work another hour without having to pay him overtime, assuming of course he would get overtime.

Only Brutus Thornapple would think about a coffee break when he just gave up his lunch hour now and in the future.

You can get coffee and drink it while you work. That’s why you’ll never get ahead…

It means he will now expect you to stay after quitting time to work on some report he won’t even look at for at least a week. No good deed goes unpunished.

Well, we will never know for sure where Veeblefester was heading with his comment, but the fact that he said he was pleased is certainly a major revelation in itself.

It means he doesn’t need the report after all. I worked thru lunch to keep up momentum on a project, so [being a responsible adult and all] I figured I’d take my 45 minutes at the end of the day and just leave early. The boss chewed me out the next morning! Never again…

Whatever nice thing was possibly going to be said just disappeared. Brutus, you are so consistent!
