Something about this painting looked familiar. Didn’t PBS recently show a Sister Wendy episode featuring a Ribera? Possibly using the same model? I can’t remember the name of the painting, but I remember her saying “Mea Culpa” because she didn’t initially appreciate it enough. Just wondering if anyone else saw that episode?
Once again, so far, this isn’t in the list of works, by this artist, in Mr. Melcher’s blog.Euclid (link shows his Wikipedia page) is shown, with a different coloration image (click-to-humongous image compliments of its Google Cultural Institute page), and described, by its current-location page, which also provides this descriptive video (fullscreen is active):
Another different coloration, click-to-enlarge (perhaps before restoration, or just poorly lit) image can be found here. The artist’s Wikipedia page (Google translated Spanish Wikipedia page has more) and collection (more under Subcategories at each level).Fourth, of the other 4 works (list link above), by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.

“Finis” means “the end”, related to the English word “finish”.
