Ten Cats by Graham Harrop for June 27, 2022

I opened the front door this morning to get the paper. There were 3 little birds nesting on the little wrought iron table in the entry. Two flew out in the yard, one flew in the house. Turns out it is a momma and two fledglings. I looked for her, but couldn’t find her. About 2 hours later she fluttered around so I opened the front door and she flew out. The two babies were dutifully waiting by the door. They are Pyrrhuloxias. It’s a desert bird that likes scrubby areas, and apparently little tables on my front porch. They are back tonight.

Remember, When it’s burning it’s cooking, When it’s black it’s done. (Just like mother used to make and we all know what a lousy cook mother was.)

I’ve sometimes had my smoke detector go off when I cook. Sometimes it will go off even when I make toast.

The babies left on their adventure early this morning. Robyn took 27 kitties and one dog. The dog is not coming back.No, it’s not being put down. It’s going up for adoption.

Why do I not believe the warehouse HAS a smoke alarm (unless Annie installed one)?

Update: the baby birds are back on the table. I put a sign on the gate that reads: do not come up to the front door, baby birds are by the door.

Okay, so maybe Annie isn’t such a good cook. Still, the kitties should cut her some slack, as she’s just a kid. On another note, saw two robins, a sparrow, two butterflies, and two rabbits while out walking today.
