I think the spirit of the Orange Menace is in Blackjacks’ body. I was almost asleep last night around 10 when I heard a crash in the kitchen. At first I thought it was just him knocking things off of the fridge door but then figured I should get up and look. It’s a good thing I did. He’d opened a cabinet door and shoved out a brand new jar of jam onto the tile floor.Jam and glass everywhere! (He must have given it a good whack or it would have just fallen onto the granite counter. It was several feet out from the cabinet) It took me about 40 minutes to get it all cleaned up. I had to turn off the lights so I could shine the flashlight over the floor looking for tiny shards. (No vacuuming because Brad was asleep) I left a long note for him and then used rubber bands on the knobs to keep the little hooligan out of the cabinets. Then I spent a long time looking for baby locks online. We had to use them years ago when we had Buckwheat but I didn’t want that kind. I think it was finally around page 40 of 213 that I found some that were acceptable.
The morning, I vacuumed and could hear little bits being sucked up. I have no idea how I missed them.
I don’t know what he was looking for – there’s no open food in there. It’s where I keep new jars of jam, peanut butter, cans of tuna, bottles of cooking oil, my Might Muffins, etc. Why couldn’t he have knocked a tuna can or pudding cut down?
