I love Biden as a contrast to the orange Mistake. And I like  Biden because he’s talking a good talk at the moment. Lets see what the actual outcome is before we decide to be pissed about what he might not do.

Hey Ted, how did that repealing the ACA go when the GQP had the House, Senate and Oval Office 2017-2019?

This makes as much sense as an Al Goodwyn cartoon. I thought Ted Rall had a better mind.

I think the 4th panel says it all: “I love Biden, he tried!” but that nirod Mith said “No….”. If the changes keep on getting constantly blocked by KY Mitch and his cohorts with an assist from the DINO’s then that is all that people will truthfully be able to say about Biden. The dude is an upgrade over the entity that was also known as his predecessor but I think Ted has a point in that many are unsure or even doubtful if Biden is committed to real change or is he just giving us progressives lip service because he knows he does not have 60 votes in the senate and never will. Joe knows the senate, he knows many in his own party who voted down the $15/hr wage issue personally including those 2 banker Democrats from his homme state. I want change and hope Biden gets to sign some damn good legislation but lots of words do not necessarily translate to action. The real sad fact is that if Joe does not have the votes in the Senate than it does not really matter where he personally stands on each of the issues though I am with Ted in that given the circumstances, a guy like Biden could get a pass for giving lip service to the left as there are others for us to direct our anger toward, not him. It is time to fix things, first thing on the agenda: get the party in blue a real majority in the senate in 2022 so that DINOs like Manchin and Sinema can not hold bills up for ransom. Yes, that may not block the filibuster but perhaps there a re ways to get things done via reconciliation.

I like Biden because he’s actually accomplishing something in a quiet, resolute manner. Not left enough? I can live with that for the moment. Before you build towers, you first have to dig yourself out of the hole this country was left in.

We wonder how Rall found a way to return his stimulus check(s), and a way to get rid of Cancun Cruz and Randy Pawn. Maybe Joe “Fence sitter” Manchin, as well. Then the Democrats would have a reliable majority…

I know one thing for sure, Theodore does not live in the South, where anyone with a nondysfunctional brain is a minority. He and I certainly experience different realities.

Joe is probably paying Manchin under-the-table to be an ass

James Madison didnt like the way the Senate was set up and basically said it was an expediency that might come back to bite us later.. .. and here we are

50 years of biased education has certainly tainted Americans concept of what “socialism” is.. and is not. That old saying.. “you can’t see the trees for the forest” is certainly apt when it comes to “socialism”

From Ted Rall’s own lips: “dictatorship of the Proletariat” is something wanted and desired by the left.

And that’s how we got Social Security, Medicare and the Affordable Care Act, among many other lesser known plans that help WE, the the People. There is no opposition. No adversary tearing apart plans, taking steps backwards, attempts to lessen plans and benefits when the conservatives take office. It’s all “sneaky” and pretend to be manipulating.

    B.S.

If Democrats didn’t work to get their plans presented, publicized, voted on and made into law, Who did? I think we should all “lift a finger” to the ones who moan and whine but never contribute any effort, just complaints. It’s easy to be a critic. It’s tough to be the criticized. The criticized have actual efforts succeed and fail. Critics, just complain about it.

I’m sorry but which Progressive (non-Liberal) politicians are calling for a dictatorship or for workers in control of the means of production? My gut says they would vote no on any bill that has those implications cause they too believe in Democracy for the people not a Plutocracy for the wealthy.

I’m sorry, but I’m pretty sure that Biden DOES have legislation proposed. Most of it is going to require at least Joe Manchin. But even so, McConnell’s actions have little to do with reality and more to do with Biden being “the enemy”.

Drawing an extremely long bow in the second panel to equate Democrats with Marxism in any form whatsoever. And I speak as an old Marxist. Even to equate them with Socialism is a step too far and shows yet again, the US idea of both those philosophies is pretty shallow, to say the least.

Oh, Ted, please be honest. It doesn’t matter at all how much progress the Democrats make in any number of areas, it will never be enough and you’ll just move the goal posts. Actually, you’ve never really laid out real, measurable goals for any policy area. That must make it easy to say “see, I was right”.

I read your article in “Counterpunch”, I tend to agree. Both parties have been thoroughly captured by corporate and financial special interests. But dems are just hypocrites, pubes are just batcrap crazy jack booting fascists. Biden may be faking socialism because he knows it’ll never happen but I think reality may force him to do the right thing. If republicans succeed in stealing our voting rights democracy is over. Democrats know this. Even Wall St. should be nervous.

I am hopeful that Biden and the Democrats in Congress will find a way to pass the infrastructure bill and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act (even if they have to kill the filibuster and replace it with a straight up/down vote to do so). And to continue to bring Covid under control. I am also hopeful that in next year’s midterms. the Democrats can widen their majorities in both houses. Obama didn’t push much (except for the Affordable Care Act) in his first term. In the 2010 midterms, the Dems lost the majorities in the House and Senate and didn’t hold the majority in either house during the rest of Obama’s administration. If they want to play the “go big or go home” card, more power to them.
