Ah, yes the cyclist’s dream. That would be the one less car part, exploding brains are so messy. Danger danger Will Robinson, incoming tree hugger rant. I have minimized my impact on the environment yet I still live a life of luxury unimaginable to billions and unattainable to millions in this country. How you ask, even if you didn’t. I have no car (I do have three expensive bicycles worth a total of about $5000) and I’m a vegetarian. We have a small house and three young children. There must be an underlying reason or two how I can do this without running afoul of Johnny Law. I have two Bachelor’s degrees (my friends and family tell me I didn’t have to go to college for ten years to get all that BS) from two different public universities. My total out of pocket cost was about $15, 000. Also, I have paid a lot more taxes over my working life (I’m now retired) than I would have had things been different. The rich and powerful have destroyed the opportunities I was given that led to my increased earning power and are trying to make it worse. We can’t let that happen.

I love my Jeep, but I am also all for public transportation. I see more cities are putting in rail cars(trolleys) OK City is the latest. They are expensive up front but pay for themselves. I wouldn’t mind using them.

There are several projects being worked on to turn the U.S. back into communities where you can live, work and play. The far-flung suburbs will be difficult to continue with the graying of the large baby-boomer population once they can’t (or won’t) drive and many millennials don’t seem to be interested in buying a house or a car (or they can’t afford it due to school loan debt).

Reminds me of the Yogi Berra quote: “Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded”.

Well said, Ted; and this is exactly the reason I don’t have a Smart Phone – they’re nothing but trouble.

Our population is out of control. But Nature will reign it in severely and cruelly and without compassion. Like deer dying from starvation back to a population that can survive. We humans are stupid about that. We are blind to it thinking we control Nature when it is just staved off for a short time. Instead of working with it and learning from it we still pollute and change the composition of the air till one day soon it won’t need our input to continue to change to a new paradigm shift. One that has equilibrium as ours has been for thousands of years. Just took humanity a mere 300 years to start pushing it away.

One thing I forgot yesterday-Google’s motto is “Do no evil” . One could easily say that Google is evil.
