Mr. Rall is exactly right. We have no left in this country. We had one, marginally, in domestic policy for a little over 30 years beginning with Roosevelt and built an enviable economy. With stronger and more insistent progressivism we might have made more progress against the bigots, too, as the wealth of society became better distributed.
I’m surprised that Mr. Rall didn’t include Ms. Harris’s unexplained failure to prosecute white collar criminal and now treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin, but I guess that you can only put so much in four panels.
Vicar, I agree with Old Coal. The system needs fixing but you have to be realistic. The corporate campaign contributions are a travesty of legalized bribery. But given our reality, (where FACTS become dispositive whether you like them or not) the Democrats have to raise money. I would rather have massive campaign finance reform, with some sort of public finance of way shorter campaigns with strict rules for or contributions of $100 or less from individuals. Plus a zillion other improvements to the election process.
But, right now the priorities have to be to throw out trump. His obvious treason and violation of the emoluments clause are sufficient cause for articles of impeachment to be approved by the House and sent to the Senate. Today.
But that’s not going to happen, is it? Nope, first we have to vote Democratic up and down the ballot. We need to knock on doors and register citizens to vote. The reality is, Vicar, that there is no time to waste on ideological disagreements. The reality is that trump is a psychopath with ADD. And the thing is, that means he has no empathy. His neurological mirror function is not working. Plus, his amygdala works overtime to address the psychopathic compulsions. This is very serious, folks. And it’s not about corporate bribes of public officials. That’s the law in the US until it’s changed.
So get on board, Vicar. Let’s get rid of the cancer first, and start a recuperation from this profoundly malignant and socially contagious disease. Then let’s talk policy.
For all his commentary about “identity politics”, Ted Rall seems to be diving into the same pool. How productive is it to spread negativity by beating the same old dead horses versus extolling the virtues of the few progressives who have actually been elected? Wouldn’t far more people be encouraged to support the progressive platform and its representatives if he did a POSITIVE review of those Democrats who are interested in promoting badly needed social programs?
Perhaps he should put more emphasis on the candidates supported by Bernie Sanders, rather than Bernie himself, and ratchet back the too-frequent comparisons of centrist-right Democrats to Hillary and Obama, who are no longer in office!

And yet, she would still be better and far less criminally incompetent than Il Douche.

Sure! All she needs to do is find a gay, atheist, Arab-American to be her running mate and the Dems will own the middle ’Merica voters.

The deeper the trump hole gets…the more we need to blame the country’s woes on anybody else. Right?

Almost anything would be preferable to the swamp we currently have to put up with.

If we have so many who are imperfect in Ted’s view, why doesn’t he run?

I’m curious to know if Rall would be willing to back any Presidential candidate besides Sanders.

Ted, do you have a favorite that you would like to see run for president in 2020?

“Identity politics” is a term used by the right to delegitimize the fight for the rights of anyone who is not a white male.
