Politics prevents leaders from issuing a stay of execution. (George Bush: I have my doubts about mondocorp's guilt. But I can't save it without looking weak on crime.) Finally, judgement day is a hand. (Voice: Sure, I trampled individuals in my single-minded quest for profit. Sure, I cut a few accounting comers. Show me a corporation that doesn't!)
