Ted Rall for April 02, 1999
My Dad is gonna die. (Man: You're wearing your heart on your sleeve. Never wear your heart on your sleeve.) He's 71, but he smoked and drank for decades and he's flabby and fat. With luck, he's got 5, maybe 10 years to go. (Man: What's with this "A-" in physical education?) They say forgiveness is good for the victim, but what if the culprit doesn't care about being forgiven? (Man 2: Mom says the child support didn't come.) Even if I was generous enough to forgive, he'd be to arrogant to accept it- and I'm too angry to let go even if he begged for mercy. (Man 3: Your parents sent you to M.I.T. and grad school!) (Man 4: No one owes you a college education) I keep waiting for the phone to ring, but I know it never will, which is good since I don't want to let go. Hell, he might already be dead.
