I told my daughters that if I had to pay for the reception, we would go to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, on dollar dinner day and rent out the party deck.

Bill Hinds, you’ve probably got the whole plot worked out, BUT here’s a suggestion anyway. The ring bearer comes in with the rings attached to the leather strings of a NFL football and, of course, drops it near the altar and Tank and the groomsmen instantly….

The league president came down from Canada (it was a first-time event in the league’s 30-year history), we got interviewed by the local news-talk radio station and a picture of us covered most of the upper fold of the local newspaper and was picked up by the AP. Total cost of the wedding and reception at a nearby Masonic Lodge might’ve come up to $500. We weren’t looking for the publicity, just something “different.”
