THis is VERY TRUE. That is in their recently set platform. They just don’t want to talk about it, or their terrible tax plan or the Mormon beliefs on politics and more.

Akin’s error was alerting the public to what is in the GOP platform. OOPS!

The problem with Mark Clayton is that he doesn’t reflect the position of the Democratic party. The problem with Todd Akin is that he does reflect the position of the Republican party.

Tigger, I went to the link you referred to yesterday about Mr. Clayton and could find nothing to which you refer.I myself am against abortion to be used as birth control and I certainly don’t want to participate in a same sex marriage. I’d rather see sex education in schools, family planning, etc. and as far as the marriage thing goes,,, I can see a reason for making an allowance for this lifestyle. A contract of some sort allowing legal rights to a “partner” would be acceptable. Most liberals I know feel similarly. We are not for the wholesale abortion of fetus’. We don’t believe in making a 13 yr. old suffer for 9 months because of a rapist either and I could see myself taking the fate of the rapist as my responsibility.

DrCanuck. Appreciated your philosophical stance re “what life is”, but disappointed that you couldn’t give me a better answer. Not surprised, just disappointed. So we remain in the dark and return to our previous discussion. I contend that no more than 70 angels can dance on the head of a pin. And even then they have to be trained in ballet and very slim.

I lean repusle a can and I have no problem with abortions except it should not be used instead of birth control. With all the std’s out there you think that more people would be using protection.

Nice ATTEMPT to hihack the topic troll. Look at the comic, think about it, respond to the comic, or to the commentors, don’t change the topic. Your heroes are the ones being pointed at here, we’re saying that you are just hypocrites and that Akin was merely saying outloud what you “compassionate conservatives” really think. THAT’S THE TOPIC!

The only people who are “pro-life” are those who are “anti-war”. The only party that’s pro-life, is likewise the one that seeks diplomacy and peace, over “preemptive war”, no matter what country they represent.

Also, those who “keep their religion to themselves” and don’t inflict it on others, are the only ones who follow the New Testament. Those who stone children, or women, for disobedience, are true “Old Testament” believers.

Tigger: As a true bible believing Christian, I ask you to truly examine the Mormon belief, it is neither biblical nor truly Christian. As to Mormon morality, try to remember that the Muslin religion (which is a heavy duty target for conservative “Christians”) is a far more rigidly “moral” religion than even the Mormon.

The true Christian religion is NOT about morality or “Righteousness” it IS about Love and Forgiveness. Otherwise, why would Christ leave Heaven and all its glory, come down to a very flawed Earth, and then be put to a truly horrible death, just to save the souls of those that were Heaven’s direct enemies???

Dtroutma, “pro-life” is conservative shorthand for “pro-fetal-life”. There’s no other way to explain it.Mr. Landers, who forgave your god for slaughtering all the innocent unborn children in the Flood? Did he have to forgive himself?

Then it might be argued that some here do not qualify as alive ("learning independently, etc) if we assume that alive takes all these things. Or it might be argued that your definition of alive would only work for some of the higher animals and would eliminate many others…including fetuses (fetusi?)

So our definition of alive either takes the form of a minimalistic view (any life force=life) where I am forced to the view that I destroy life each time I eat peas, a maximalist view (only if all characteristics are met) whereby I cannot accept brainless politicians as alive or we assign some arbitrary point of development. If I follow your argument, any display of any type of life behavior (eating, moving etc) qualifies as life. Which means even sperm are alive and therefore life doesn’t begin at conception but BEFORE conception.Somehow I don’t feel we’re making much progress.

Therefore, if there is “minimal” life, as in peas. And we accept destroying "minimal life (if for no other reason than survival) and if as you declared some here are only partly alive could we not then declare open season on trolicans, and if we can do that, then there should be no argument in re abortion since (most) fetus are even less developed than they?
