Oh, no. I hope she’s not thinking that she couldn’t cope with life as the spouse of a police officer. Forever worrying if he’ll come home safely. I really want to see those two tie the knot. I need a happy event to look forward to!!!

When my husband was in a rollover, head on collision & had his arm partially severed off, his legs were broken, & his kneecaps shattered so badly they had to regrow vs. being put back together, as well as broken ribs, I began waking up with panic attacks & had to force myself to drive. I felt like there were cars targeting me. And, I am a professional courier. That happened 10 years ago, & it took years to get rid of those feelings. It can be extremely devastating, & you use every ounce of will you have to try to keep the visuals from the hospital & accident scene from popping up in your head. Stay strong, Val, & you will make it. Ironically, my husband remembers nothing about the accident to this day. He never saw it coming at him.

She has a bad case of the “might have beens”, and being immobilized can lead to pulmonary embolisms. Actually, her behavior is perfectly nomal

Is Val having flashbacks of when Tom died? Understandable that she’d be scared to go through another death of a man she loves.

Find a way to deal with it.If you don’t it will constantly haunt you.Find YOUR way. Others ways may not work for you.Just make sure your way isn’t self destructive.

@Dani Rice: when I did several weeks in the hospital a half dozen years ago they had a machine wrapped around my legs to keep a massage effect going nonstop so as to avoid pulmonary embolisms. Of course, that might be a little more difficult on the broken leg here. Hmm.
