This is from august 22, 2014. This year, she’s doing more of them and the wording is “We’ll always love August.” There’s a finality in this wording. It’s as if she’s telling us now for all the future Augusts b/c she won’t be there.Note that Jan Elliot is around 63 years old and has been doing the strip for something like 18 years. It’s very probable that she will retire soon.Back to the story, she made Evie get married, which changes the dynamic. Many times that kind of thing is done before a strip ends. Since there apparently haven’t been any retirement announcements, I wonder if we’ll see Val and Phil get engaged first.

I hope they won’t change their minds. That would be a huge disappointment. It’ll be great for him to move in with them, combine incomes and be a father to the girls.

Did anyone notice that Val is taller in the last panel than the first? In panel one the top of her head is up to Phil’s eyebrow, but in panel four they are basically the same height. Perhaps, she growing in confidence or floating on the clouds?

I read the comments on a few other comics and there is ONE in particular that gets up to 120 per DAY! There are a few there who seem to have nothing else to do! Let poor Marantz have his say (not the one WE all seem to have) but…to each his own. I am FOR this relationship, whether it’s just a comic or not. It is fun to read and follow. Seems we are in the 99.99% majority anyway, so don’t let his grouchy nature put a frown on your face!!! :-) :-)

Wow, sounds like people are not allowed to have a different opinion and are getting stalked on top if it! Didn’t realize the rules were to agree with the storyline and that you must comment on every strip in order to participate. Wish I had that kind of time…
