My sister and her husband were visiting me in upstate NY when we had an ice storm – I lived on a hill like this but out in the country in the woods. There were from Georgia and did not have snow tires or chains. The town population was about 12 so there wasn’t any type of service to clear the 100 yard driveway/hill. When they left and went to turn sideways from the front door, it looked like a boat pulling away from a dock because the car just sort of swung off like a boat. I told them when they started to go down the hill to the main road to just keep honking their horn and hope that anybody coming would stop or at least be aware. I don’t know how they made it to the plowed highways without winding up in a ditch. Now I am living in Florida so I hope all you guys up North can dig out and have some hot chocolate with marshmallows.
