    Uh, the 22nd Century doesn’t begin until January 1, 2100. The new decade begins January 1, 2020.

    A century is 100 years. The first year of the first century is the year one. There is no year zero. So the first century began January 1, 0001. Therefore the last year of the first century ends on December 31, 0100. So the second century begins on January 1, 0101. Or in this case, on January 1, 2001.
