So, when you actually behave virtuously is it virtue signaling?

Oh, right: Skelley. For his target audience such subtlety isn’t just beyond their capacity, it’s considered lying.

Let’s see, a community that has no idea two planeloads of refugees are coming and has no facilities for such a crowd nevertheless scrambles to feed and house them with smiles and kind words. Then that community appropriately contacts their Republican governor who contacts federal authorities (since immigration issues are Under federal NOT state jurisdiction), and the federal government then finds them appropriate temporary housing so they can be properly cared for while being processed. That’s some virtue signaling.

Steve, you seem jealous. You clearly have the same level of smug, judgemental, condescension- but lack the money- as the folks you are drawing. Why are you so down on the rich? Doesn’t your religion teach that rich people are better than you and you should try to be more like them?

Okay, boys and girls, today’s cartoon is about what we call “Blame Shifting”. Racist Republicans committed an illegal and immorally reprehensible act, and are now attempting to not only shift the consequences of that act onto Democrats, they want you to also believe the Democrat’s humanitarian response was a bad and selfish thing.

So, to the Republicans, you should applaud them for abusing those immigrants and chastise the Democrats for treating those abused immigrants as human beings.

The GOP brings up immigration before each election to stir up and frighten their base. They have no intention of fixing it—it works too well for them.

My jaw literally dropped on this one: DeSantis sent migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, using people as political pawns, they were taken care of, and Kelley is choosing to mock the people on MV? Tip: The stunt here deserving of condemnation is on the GOP side.

Sigh… Do people like Steve even know what the word “virtue signaling” means? Well here is a definition for you:

“the action or practice of publicly expressing opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one’s good character or the moral correctness of one’s position on a particular issue.”

This is what political cartoonists do EVERY DAY. This cartoon is Steve Kelly “vitrue signaling” how he sees his views as being morally superior to the left.

If “virtue signaling” is considered something undesirable, what is the opposite, desirable, behavior? “A$$h*le Signaling” would be my guess at SKelly’s answer. If kindness and compassion are weakness, then bullying, cruelty and meanness are strength. I feel sympathy for what SKelly must have suffered in his childhood and life that he finds cruelty to be normal, and compassion something to be ridiculed.

Nobody knows virtue signaling like a conservative. Pretending to have Christian values. Pretending to care about unborn children. The list goes on an on. So this might be true. Nobody can recognize a lying hypocrite….like another lying hypocrite.

Here’s a Mr. Digit Finger Puppet “virtue signal” from the right wing: after Biden’s remark about the pandemic being over, the GOP wants to cut or eliminate almost all health programs, including Medicaid, that would cause tens of millions of “takers” to lose their health care.

Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) said “If that’s the case, how do you justify spending billions to keep people on Medicaid who would otherwise make too much money to qualify for the program and already have employer-sponsored insurance?”

Kinda reminds me of the late Gahan Wilson’s cartoon, showing an angry farmer tying the corpse of an “illegal” to a scarecrow stake in his field. He explained to a friend “He owed me money when he died, so he’s gonna work it off!”

This is fascist fiction. The migrants were grateful for the outpouring of support, after DeSantis lured them with false promises of jobs & housing. The folks who registered asylum seekers with fake addresses far from MV will be facing consequences.

In the real world, tearful goodbyes were made when the immigrants boarded a bus to take them where they could be housed as they work out the legal side of their plight. The people of Martha’s Vineyard offered to host some of the immigrants after they make it through their court cases. How very like Republicans to turn a story about the best in humanity into a vicious lie.

Virtue signaling is exactly what MV residents did. Oh sure, they did a dog and pony show as a PR stunt. But they were screaming bloody murder to the Governor and any other person of power with which they influence. All the lefties here acting as apologists for and excusing the MV residents for shipping off those illegal immigrants to where there was “adequate housing” don’t have a leg to stand on. I see much whinging as how there was no housing on MV for them which is an absolute lie. Let me remind everyone that not only is MV an upscale residential area it’s also a go to vacation spot with plenty of hotels, B&Bs, rental homes and even tents. There was NO lack of living quarters available for those illegals. The only reason they were removed is because they were UNWANTED by the locals. Don’t believe me? Here:

And that’s just one site among many. Any one saying housing was unavailable is either ignorant or a liar and I just corrected the first case
