You know, boy meets boy, falls in love, but can’t act on it because he’s afraid of society and so marries girl. They have children, who he does love, but is ashamed of himself because he doesn’t love Mom, not in the way she deserves.
They spend years together, trying to make it work. She feels inadequate, he feels the same. Children caught in the middle, not understanding what is wrong.
That’s the story SKelley likes. I left out the possible violence, cheating, and substance abuse. This is a romcom after all.
How about boy who loves only himself meets 3 hot girls. Marries and divorces them, transactionally. Starts 3 families. Inherits and loses a fortune. Almost destroys a nation, and is still trying. Simple enough for you, Kelly?
Two 100-year centennials of note happened in 2020: The start of Prohibition and the 19th Amendment (Women’s right to vote). The former is commemorated, while the latter is celebrated.
Otherwise 2020 was, however, a truly horrible, horrible year for us, and we have tЯц❄p, Maga, and COVID to blame for it.
It took fourteen years (1934) to fix the horrible mistake of Prohibition, which gave organized crime it’s real start – and its relentless evil still plagues us. After we got a new Administration in 2021, it took us “only” four years of pure héll to mitigate that horrible, sucking wound.
But like the collateral damage from Prohibition, the collateral damage from Maga (the corruption, the perversion of the SCOTUS, the extreme right-wing propaganda, the embrace of hatred and violence) will plague us for generations to come. It might yet be our country’s fate to become a Fourth Reich of horror – but their assault on women’s rights and brazen attack on democracy to claim autocratic power might finally be a premature bridge too far, hopefully. We’ll see, come November.
Regardless, I have a toast: May we all, in the vital, personal decisions we make during our daily lives, stop ourselves from those evil deeds before we get them done.
In other words, vote for Democrats like your country and your very lives depends on it!!
I am trying to think of a movie where the protagonists start a family. None are coming to mind. They usually end with falling in love, or getting married.

No: the SYFY channel only has woke storylines; If you want “boy meets girl…” you’ll have to go to the Hallmark channel!

Skelley misses the White male breadwinner female homemaker paradigm of the 19th and early 20th century USA. Poor baby…

My TV hasn’t been on since the NCAA tournament. It will come back on, at the start of College Football.
