Hey Kelley, there are Genetic females who identify as male competing in men’s sports. Do some checking before you make an idiot of yourself.

    What’s that,,,,,too late?

This is such a bigly problem that we see transgender men dominating all women’s sports all the time… /s

Do think I remember stories about Russian Olympic athletes who were men posing as women, and that it happened during more than one Olympic games, but the Russians also get caught doping so much that it’s hard to keep up with all their cheating…

SKelley just doesn’t get it. It’s not as if transgender people are out to take over sports, and that mentality is the same one that old white guys, like SKelley, say about women competing in men’s sports, serving in combat, and doing traditional men’s jobs.

SKelley seems to be terminally stuck in the past. Even his comic avatar is woefully outdated with his obsession with HRC.

A modest proposal by my son:

At every level of play (high school, college, “national team” and professional) there SHALL BE NO GENDER REQUIREMENT. Wanna play football? Show up and compete for a spot. Wanna join the (formerly) women’s gymnastics team? Show up and compete for a spot. Etc. BUT: There will always be a minimum of TWO teams/squads for each sport: Cross country running, for instance would have to field the appropriate number (or fewer) of “level one” athletes AND “level two” athletes as well.† More levels would not be mandated, but would be available if the sports league allowed/mandated them.

In things where standard masculine physical characteristics are an advantage, folks whose bodies grew with typical masculine hormones… and who also won the genetic lottery for other aspects of the sport… would probably be the majority of players. Things like football and shot put. Things where genetic gals have an advantage (“ladies” gymnastics comes to mind) would typically field folks who were mostly feminine. But the SECOND (and further) teams might very well have a wider range of “original genetics”.

Why is this a good idea? Well, first, it’s never been true that any boy/man could join any mens sport team. You have to be good enough as well as genetically appropriate. So we just remove an artificial barrier and let the nature of the sport be the main factor. Second, it reduces all this current angst. All the folks who worry about trans women beating out “real” women in, say, women’s golf, don’t have anything to complain about now. Not that athletes and their families won’t still get all angsty about the selection process, but that’s been true since Og the caveman formed a rock throwing league.

Sport, it seems to me, OUGHT to be mostly about the competition. And if we’re being fair, we need to provide enough levels so everyone who wants to can compete… fairly… against folks with a similar level of ability.

Actually, (if skelley actually cared to do some research) there is the case of the female wrestler who is transitioning to becoming a male. She has won the HS Regional title a couple years in a row now… and the parents of the other female wrestlers are angry. Thing is the wrestler has been trying to participate as a male for years now… but due to a rule that she must compete as a female because she was born a female keeps her from doing that.

Transgender athletes have been competing in the Olympics since 2004. Apparently the irrational fear that they would dominate women’s sports is just that.

Damn- you mean I can ‘identify’ as an 8 year old and be a top performer?

    They need HELP, not affirmation.
