Back when Superman was young… the US had a much more unified idea of what was good. And part of that belief system was that newspapers and radio, which weren’t yet thought of as “new media”, should deal out stories which were either clearly for entertainment, opinion or clearly informative and truthful. Well, and ads. Not like now when about 30% to 40% of our population prefers to be fed divisive hatefulness and / or pablum.
The only “news media” not deserving respect are the ones that defend themselves as being entertainment in court, like Fox, Newmax, OANN, Info Wars, and others of their ilk.
Writing as someone who, as a kid, idolized Superman — for a period back then wearing pajamas in the style of Superman’s costume and with a running start, often “flying” onto my bed — this cartoon and its implication makes me sad.
I suspect the cartoonist is one of Lex Luthor’s henchmen! And wouldn’t Trump make an appropriate Luthor, sans that ridiculous hair, that I suspect either isn’t real — or is an evil alien parasite with tentacles into his brain! —) —) Alternatively, Rupert Murdoch might be the original Luthor, and Trump his first attempt at a clone.
The Superman mythos is a bit long in the tooth, and those of many other more spectacular super-entities have overtaken it, but for me even as an old man, he still represents “Truth, Justice, and The American Way.” (— (—
For once I agree with the cartoonist. Of course Fox and friends (Twitter!) have been selling lies to the public for ages (the mayor of Paris actually forced Fox to retract a news report when she threatened to sue them for defamation) – but even authoritative news agencies (the NY Times) were guilty of feeding the public story after story about Trump and barely making room for anything else. This fed into his brand recognition even though they knew it was empowering him, for the sake of sales! Shame on them all! Trump himself said – only three weeks into his campaign for President: “I don’t care if people like or hate me – I only care that they talk about me”. He could never have become so powerful if the press hadn’t given him the megaphone that they did, which he knew perfectly how to manipulate!
I respect the REAL news media immensely. I don’t respect the fake radical right wing outlets that pretend to be news but only spew lies. I’m looking at Newsmax, OAN, and of course Fox.
Hey Sups! At least the people respecting you kindly forgot you’re an illegal alien. If you were brown and not white they would be singing a different tune, even if you were saving their life. Seriously though, wouldn’t Superman be a DREAMER? His parents sent him to America as a baby. shrug
Fox, Newsmax, Oann are scab journalists. But so called “mainstream media” who castigated themselves in 2016 about Hump’s coverage, continued to hang on his every word for the last four years. I think the term is “enablers” And hopefully after this human virus disappears in 10 days, they will ignore his drivel.
Oh Patjade, you are full of Holy Crap! Those networks you mention are conservative and obviously you are a liberal. Just admit it and watch the real crap on CNN, WNBC and others of their ILK!

No worries, Superman. Your newspaper deals in objective reality, not like that rag where Peter Parker works!

Why? Did the Daily Planet fold and Clark got stuck at the Faux Spews propaganda network?

So Kelley, you have no respect for your own work as part of the “media”?

SKelley’s first entry into the ‘mutual respect’ effort.
Once again, a Trump Disciple cannot produce a cartoon or a comment that does not have an underlying lie.

Kelley didn’t even shame him for being an illegal alien. Maybe he was in too much of a hurry returning from the Capital.

Check and see if the paper runs Kelley’s cartoons. If they don’t then your paper probably has integrity and your job would be worthy of respect.

Things could be worse. You could be a republican and yet worse a republican cartoonist.

Superman loved to wear tights and a cape in flashy colors and he never married.
