No, people don’t want to hear panic in our president’s voice. Rather they want to hear a calm, confident, competent leader telling them the truth. Good grief man, what will it take for you to see that we might actually be great if Donnie Dumpster took the presidency seriously rather than it being some ridiculous reality TV show? Maybe if he studied up on our past great leaders our nation had and applied what he learned, we might actually be the nation we used to be vs. the crumbling super power that is laughed at by the rest of the world.
Sorry, Mr. Kelley you are WAY off on this one: A) Democrats wear masks, B) Democrats would seek an understanding of the science behind turbulence, and C) if they still have concerns on a pilot’s ability to manage turbulence both Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth (Army) AND candidate for Senate in Kentucky Amy McGrath (Marines) flew combat missions.
Trump has constangly encouraged panic with his phony caravans coming up from Mexico and criminals moving next door to you and on and on. It’s laughable that people would buy his claim that he didn’t want to cause panic.
Trying to compare what Donald Trump has been doing to the actions of a real pilot handling a crisis is insulting to the men and women who actually do pilot planes.
trump is using his “calm” voice where it counts for him.. as he describes the destruction of suburbs.. rising hoards of Antifa ready to pounce and eat your babies. The Chinese takeover.. Iran.
But you are fine with liar Trump the racist covid spreader and his civil war inducing hatreds? Right wingers are mentally ill, its obvious. They hate everything good and love everything that is disgusting.
So, Kelly, just want to get this straight. You think it was better to tell people the whole pandemic was a hoax, that it was just a flu, that it would go go away by summer, that masks aren’t necessary, all while knowing that it is an airborne disease five times more deadly than the flu? How would the help? Keep people calm? I don’t think so — he was whipping people up into a frenzy over freedom from masks. Remember “Liberate Michigan”? If he thought that was going to calm anyone down, then he’s an incompetent moron. If he knew it was only for his own political gain, he’s scum. Either way, that makes him unworthy to be president.
Sounds foolish but if were a systemic flaw in aircraft software, which would affect the entire flying public and the airlines were aware of the problem but not doing everything they could, not so foolish.
Why, god, why? Why does Mr. Kelley here compare a deadly pandemic to turbulence? And telling the truth to causing panic? Churchill and FDR told the truth about the dire straits that their countries were in. They didn’t cause a panic. They just told the truth. Trump wasn’t just calm. He lied, and people died.
Trump’s actions were more akin to a plane heading towards severe turbulence and telling the passengers to unbuckle their seatbelts. The turbulence is a hoax! It’ll disappear like magic! There’s a huge area between causing a panic and lying to hide the truth. You know, like the captain tells everyone that there’s turbulence ahead, to remain seated with their seatbelts buckled, and that the flight attendants will stop beverage service until the air is smooth again. THAT’S what a real leader does.
The American people have a right to a president who will tell the truth. And, we have a right to choose to panic. Suppose a woman had panicked on January 31st, when Trump began lying to us. So, she didn’t go to the store where she caught the Trump plague, and stayed home from a party and church, where she passed it on to people who passed it on and etc etc etc. There is no way knowing the truth could have resulted in more deaths, the reverse is true. Trump lied to us to protect only one person— himself.
Where Trump didn’t want to cause panic was not among the American people – he could not care any less about them – but in the stock market, because the only thing he cares about is making sure the economy looks strong so his business base will re-elect him.You have to be pretty stupid to actually buy Trump’s line about not wanting to cause panic from the same guy who said a caravan of criminals was coming to rape and murder your wives and daughters, blames some amorphous and nonexistent anarchist group for everything from election fraud to psoriasis, and claims that thuggish Black people (the only kind there are in his world) are going to invade your suburbs, loot your homes, and set your businesses on fire. His political ads all look like trailers for horror films, but sure, he didn’t want to panic anyone.
Forget the propaganda! If you are happier, richer, safer and healthier with more job security than you and your family were 4 years ago and you want the President of the US to be considered a joke, then consider ignoring all of Trump’s lies and vote for him.

Steve… you seem to be under some delusion that there are only two options. “don’t talk about it” and “panic”…
Other government officials in other countries were more than capable of telling the public what they needed to know, and they did it calmly.

Lying does not equal being calm.
Feb 26: “When you have 15 people, and 15 within a couple is going to be down close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”
April 1: “So if we can hold it down, to 100,000, so we have between 100,000 to 200,000, we altogether have done a very good job.”
