Once again, Steve Kelley proves himself to be either uninformed about the nature of the present case against Trump or intentionally distorting it.
Even though Mueller found plenty of evidence that Trump did NOT win the 2016 election legitimately (he asked Russia for help, his son asked Russia for help and Russia provided extensive help and then they covered it up), as well as evidence apart from Mueller showing extensive voter suppression in the three large midwestern industrial states Trump won by a combined total of less than 78,000 votes (a fraction of 1% across all three), NO ONE IS TRYING TO UNDO THE 2016 ELECTION. Pence, chosen by Trump and elected by Republicans, was simultaneously chosen for an office whose sole meaningful duty is to take over for a president who leaves office before completing his term. If Trump is removed from office, Pence would take over and continue the same policies, and likely do so far more effectively.
Impeachment is not overturning an election.
Impeachment is a lawful, constitutionally-defined process, not a purse grab. For Kelley to try to equate a constitutional process with a purse grab demonstrates his utter contempt for the Constitution, with a vice president of the president’s own choosing continuing the president’s policies.
The actual caption should be, “We see you holding the last purse that you stole. We’re giving you a free pass on that one, but we are taking action because you got caught trying to steal the next purse (labelled “2020 Election”).
