Do you think Texas will be able to turn on the air conditioner?
Been hearing some stuff about the Midwest too. Got an “emergency” fire warning that something could happen. (Although I’m not aware of any large fires in Minnesota yet)
Well, but at least it’s DRY heat!
(that was supposed to be a joke)
At least most of those states have fully functioning energy grids.
As Texans voted for the morons who keep failing them they deserve all the ills that could have been fixed.
Even the PNW is suffering from this one.
It’s so sad. Well done Mr Breen. Next up: drenched SE USA
Has Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) managed to get somebody to change the orbits of the Earth and Moon and keep from burning his bacon? Is that pork barrel politics, isn’t it . . ./S
’Bout time for Ted Booze to abandon Texas again and make a trip to Iceland.
Yes, it’s gonna be toastier from now on unless we stop talking and start doing something.
Loeb cautions that the study is only a snapshot relative to long-term climate change, and that it’s not possible to predict with any certainty what the coming decades might look like for the balance of Earth’s energy budget. The study does conclude, however, that unless the rate of heat uptake subsides, greater changes in climate than are already occurring should be expected.
The heat is going up, water supplies are going down, if I lived out that way I Would sell for a big fat profit and move, now, before it’s too late.
Really, I don’t see a problem. No one I know “believes” in climate change. It’s just made up sciency stuff. There will be no weather issues today. It’s Juneteenth, the celebration of the news that the slaves were freed arrived in Galveston, Texas on June 19,1865.I really expect the AR-15 toting crowd to cause trouble.I really hope there is no “thoughts and prayers” events.I live in Weatherford, Texas. Google it. I have just contacted an auctioneer. I’m selling out and moving. I’m 81 and have 2 air conditioners going. No, not everyone in Texas deserves to suffer. Oddly enough, Weatherford is not connected to the Texas power grid. We have our own generating plant. During that last freeze we had power. My meds have kicked in so I had several rants going.Science ignorance.Ignorant teachers.Poor education.Racial hatred.Raped child vs hurt dog. Funds raised to aid these victims. Child $0, Dog $30,000.Dealing with Trumpsters. I don’t understand the hold this man has on people. And friends lost because of him.I just recently read that the Texas population is 60 percent “Brown” vs 40 percent “White”. There is hope.I’m ranting again.
“But…But…But… Climate Change is JUST A FAKE CONSPIRACY MADE UP BY AL GORE AND THE SCIENTISTS TO MAKE MONEY!!!”
Yeah, THAT’S the ticket…
Texans are going to roast, but at lease more border wall is going to be built. And I thought the orange clown was the dumb one.
Nice touch, heating the pan with what’s actually causing the problem. The last time atmospheric CO2 levels were as high as they are now was when sea levels were 100’ higher and humans weren’t around for several million years yet. We’re seeing the result of over 6 billion humans past sustainable.
Heat and drought has brought on the demise of many previous civilizations.. perhaps, another one is about to bite the dust.. literally. In the perpetual battle between man and nature.. nature, with time on its.. side will win.
As we seem to be addicted to our fossil fuels, global warming will only worsen. Those people staying in the west will need to, not necessarily want to, start living in earth sheltered housing for the cooling effects and fire protection. ESH also protects against high velocity storms and earthquakes.
Have a wonderful weekend my friends. And remember: get out the vote in 2022 and 2024. The country you save will be your own.
Might as well just go ahead and show the entire globe in that frying pan.
Earth population: 1930 – 2 billion. Today – 8 billion. Maybe there is a correlation with our declining oceans, air quality, exhaustion of natural resources, species extinction. Think filling the earth with solar panel and wind turbines is going to turn any of that around?
Gonna be hot in BC and Alberta as well.
It was 70 degrees yesterday in Washington state where I am.
It might make it up to 80 by Monday! Dang that’s hot…
Texas governor defunds the legislature after Dems walked out to block voter suppression bill
Dozens who died in Texas prisons during the pandemic had been granted parole
Its expected to be over 100 degrees in Texas tomorrow.
Thank god, The repulsican crime family has declared there is no climate change. Otherwise, SATAN would be checking out the West for handier digs for his harvest of IDIOTS. Austin? Houston? Hey, maybe Crazy Cancun Cruizin’ would sublet to HIM?
@Maggie Simpson: No one is asking if you have air conditioning. They’re asking if your grid can handle the air conditioning demand for electricity.
It’s going to be a hot time in the old town tonight. Remember everyone, Tuesday is Soylent Green day!
Thanks to all who posted links.
John Oliver did a segment on the heat in prisons that are not air conditioned, particularly prisons in Texas. The UN Committee Against Torture has expressed the same concerns about Texas prisons…..
“This situation is so bad, the UN Committee Against Torture has expressed particular concern about deaths from extreme heat exposure in prison facilities in Texas,” said Oliver, “and while you probably assumed Texas prisons were bad, maybe not ‘International Human Rights Watch List’ bad.”
Happy Father’s Day my friends.
