It’s a conservative, free-market, private-enterprise idea to fix the lack of a free market in health care. Conservatives should be for it. Oh! That’s right! It’s a conservative, Heritage foundation idea! The conservatives do not hate it for anything that’s actually in it. They hate it because it’s their solution, but they were unable to enact it, so Obama’s getting the credit for an excellent, free-market plan. That’s why they need to complain about things (higher premiums, death panels) that aren’t actually happening in the real world.
Sorry! Bad proofreading. But death panels have existed and still do. They are the employees of private insurance companies who deny you the benefits that you thouhgt you had paid for. Despite Ms Palin’s assertions to the contrary, death panels do not exist in the ACA.
Newt Gingrich was at the RNC meeting in Boston, Wednesdy. He asked of Congressional Republicans – “What is your positive replacement for Obamacare?”^He answered his own question – “they will have zero answer.”^He also said the following – “Republicans are too caught up in a culture where as long as we’re negative and as long as we’re vicious and as long as we can tear down our opponent, we don’t have to learn anything — and so we don’t.”^How can moderate Republicans in the mold of John Warner, Olympia Snow, Ronald Reagan, & Dick Lugar be elected in the environment described by Mr. Gingrich? How can moderate ideas be advanced by either party in such an environment? Respectfully,C.
You’ve a good name, Lookinside. It is often by looking inside at the details we can make the most informed decisions. The numbers you quote are the ones I hear and objective sources showing Despised’s number are non existent. Of my own circle of acquaintances, the opinion people have on healthcare is largely the same as they have of Obama himself. If they dislike him or his party, they dislike healthcare. However, as time passes, I hear more people saying they don’t like Obama, but the healthcare has helped someone they know. I do not know ANYONE who is for the ACA who doesn’t believe it’s flawed and who think it needs to be remodeled/repaired/replaced with something real and lasting without ‘loopholes’.It is important that those who are ‘educating’ others about this policy use links and sources. Mikefive, Michaelwme, Mickey, and numerous others are good about educating us unwashed masses and I am grateful for all of them.Respectfully,C.
“Will it still be free market when it becomes single payer?”The British have single payer, and still allow the purchase of private insurance. I would like to see an opt-in government run health insurance. Those who want to participate can opt-in, those who don’t can purchase private insurance.

Stupid cartoon. Private business (insurance companies) want only profits. People who can’t afford health care are of no concern—let them suffer. It seems we live in a greedy, uncaring country.
