The first good cartoon on this subject.

By the way, to change the subject, would you vote if you thought someone would blow you up? People in Iraq did! Maybe the right to vote is important, maybe we should take time to think about things before we vote.

Would be funnier if they were both fighting over the microphone.

At the rate Congress in not getting anything accomplished, I suggest letting the kids take over DC and run the government.

Could it get worse than what we already have from the “so-called grownups” running things in DC?

A few changes in Congress would improve things a lot. Number one: Eliminate Lobbyists. Anyone else?

I know it is the “right of the people” to lobby their Congress to make bills in their interest, but I do believe such lobbying be done in the open and without privileges.

Ken’s point DOES have to do with who is in the plane, and the control tower. When every precinct in America turns out over 68% of eligible voters- which should be 100% WITHOUT a single risk to their lives!! they might have a reason to complain, or redress grievances.

Those who don’t vote under many state voting laws (double majorities on tax law for instance) ARE in charge of the control tower, by NOT even participating. That is neither democracy, nor a republic.

I have a simple solution, IrishEddie: Congressional perks, salary, and healthcare should be pegged to the average American. Or better, the bottom 25% of incomes. And they are not allowed to provide exceptions to the law for any part of the government - they must abide by their own regulations. Sadly, the rotten Bush appointees on the Supreme Court have made money equivalent to votes, so your point 5 is currently “unconstitutional” until we change it.

How about just limiting the federal government to the Constitutional mandates?

Irish Eddie, you had me until you got to the public horse-whipping. Perhaps if we just “tenderize” the meat on their back, or investigate caning.

Thanks for all the comments. I would love to see the Presidential election determined by popular vote, the Primary held on the same day in every state and sacrifice by all Americans.
