If he had made them green it probably would have been a little less confusing. Tadpoles wasn’t the first thing that came to my mind.

Same here, painterofwolves, but I see now from the caption that it has to be tadpoles. Very funny. Reminds me of a greeting card I once saw: hundreds of sperm circling an ovum, but none going to it. The caption reads, “The male fear of commitment begins early.”

But but but… that looks like the surface of a pond in the upper right corner. And sperm don’t have eyes. (Of course, this is a comic, so that’s not a good argument. Neither sperm nor tadpoles talk.) On the other hand, I don’t think tadpoles migrate anywhere to metamorphose (if that’s the right word). So this is more like sperm behavior. I think we could come to blows over this, if we lived close to each other and knew where each other lived and what their names were. “Comic Rage” is a terrible thing to witness.

I’ve never seen a green tadpole painterofwolves.

But if they were tadpoles, they wouldn’t have to be going anywhere in particular to change.

I vote “sperm”. Ha, ha, ha! Now it’s funny!

Where’s the manual? This cartoon needs a manual.

On the other hand, it does actually make sense no matter which they are. Sperm and tadpoles both end up changing.

On third thought, sperm makes more sense considering that “going ahead” makes a difference with them but not so with tadpoles.

I used to catch tadpoles when I was a kid. I’ve only seen brown ones. I thought “sperm” too until tadpoles were mentioned. I’d go with sperm since the “tail” (flagellum) are a bit too skinny to move a big old tadpole body.

The reason there are so very many sperm is that

none of them will ask directions. (old joke)
