    Generally the ununiformed shooters do themselves in, while the uniformed ones circle the wagons and defend their shooter to the bitter end.

    Why shoot one round when you can unload the whole clip with no consequences or censure.

    Second Amendment Score Card:

    Tyrants overthrown: 0

    Coworkers, spouses, schoolchildren, clerks, students etc., killed… thousands and counting.

    The “militia” is getting out of hand. It is supposed to be “well-regulated”. Something needs to be done about it besides “thoughts and prayers”.

    The NRA is certainly responsible for much of the culture of “Everyone Need a Gun”.. but as recent developments have shown.. the “Well Regulated” bit kind of went off the rails.

    My Trumper nephew, with he and his wife both armed, claims that constitutes a “well organized militia”… they tried to enlist their daughters, but found that only one of them is old enough in our State to carry a gun – and she doesn’t want one… they feel she has joined the ranks of (insert long tirade of insults and swear words here) liberals who are taking away their rights…

    NNNOOOO…..

    See, ANY regulation of guns, ANY at all, is exactly the same as total confiscation of all guns!

    .

    Also, OBAMA IS COMING FOR YOUR GUNS!

    Now, now. Antonin Scalia, a great scholar, determined that the first 11 words of the 2nd Amendment don’t have anything to do with the case. Which is very much too bad, as those words make clear that the founders were concerned about the “security” of state governments, not about self-protection, or popular resistance to tyranny.

    The Second Amendment was written in a one horse power world, when it took 30 seconds to reload one shot. They meant for the well regulated militia to replace the British regular army; that is now our modern National Guard.

    The NRA is the face of the gun industry. They generate propaganda for the gun industry. Part of their propaganda is the nonsense that the 2nd amendment applies to every coward (which is what gun-owners are). That lie sells a lot of guns.

    As Signe noted, the 2nd Amendment only guarantees the right to own guns to a “well-regulated” state militia, not to every wack job and coward that wants one.

    That is because Congress has Never performed the duty spelled out in the Body of the Constitution:

    Article 1, Section 8

    The Congress shall have Power …

    To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;
