If we are to believe the Republican dogma that government can be run like a business, then income must equal or exceed spending. But Republicans cut taxes, while increasing spending each time they are in charge, and only complain when a Democrat tries to pay down the bills they have run up.
Americans have every right to be upset about taxes since we see so little return from them. But Republican wars cost money. Housing people convicted under idiotic drug laws costs money. Lawyers tied up in court defending indefensible poorly executed legislation costs money.
It seems asking those who can afford it to pay a little more in taxes is not asking too much.
