Just 2 days ago in USA Today……….Of course you don’t hear about these stories from the wacky lefties on this site……..“A psychiatric outpatient opened fire Thursday inside a psychiatrist’s office at a hospital near Philadelphia, killing his caseworker and slightly wounding the doctor, who shot the gunman with his personal firearm”.
All the blotches are in the shape of Florida.
Signe, you couldn’t add in a bit where the doctor asks for health insurance but Sam doesn’t have any?
“If there were more armed, …”.Since you asked, I think with more people armed will lead to a greater chance their guns will be used to resolve problems. It is very difficult to shoot at people if one does not have a gun.
Commie pinko libs ? It seems a lot of this name calling is coming from small minded individuals who can’t make their point without insulting those that don’t agree with them. Let’s just agree to disagree since no 1 is going to change anyone’s mind on such controversial issues as gun control.
Interesting point. The US has a long tradition in its gun obsession, unlike other countries. Switzerland (due to obligatory military service) and Canada (due to more hunting) have lots of guns, too, but don’t have the gun-toting crazies we have, nor the mass murders. I agree that the cure is indeed the problem. What seems to be left out of the discussions in the US is that some of the proposed cures (gun control techniques) WORK in other countries.

churchillwasright: The ACLU action was to end the expensive (to tax payers) lock ’em up and throw away the key and little or no treatment system then used, and replace it with individualized treatment for those capable of benefiting from it so they could be taxpayers instead of tax consumers. The states took one look at that, gave all their inmates a bus ticket to the nearest big city with no provision for when they arrived. After all, they no longer had any responsibility and could always blame the ACLU for the Eighth Amendment.
churchillwasright: At least in Texas, where insanity is a state’s right, that was precisely the state government’s reaction. I have heard other states also emphasized the financial angle in their actions too..I also have seen British Columbia up close, as one of the leading psychiatrists there was a fellow modeller (their spelling) and was part of the international panel that ruled that homosexuality was neither a “lifestyle” nor a psychiatric abnormality. They actually do what the ACLU was attempting to do in this country – treat mental patients instead of incarcerating them. Sorry, I have never been to Switzerland, but pity any who puts any of their 20 rounds in their assault rifle outside of military control.
