To begin with, the “Prosperity Gospel” is unbiblical and idolatrous: it attempts to use God as a means to an end.
Second, what counts isn’t simply works, nor is it faith in the sense of mere intellectual assent to a claim. What matters is trust in God expressed through acts of love (Galatians 5:6 and elsewhere).
You see, God is the necessary interface between us and others—between us and ourselves, too, for that matter—because he is the one who truly knows us. Apart from God, I am very unlikely to know myself as I am, and trying to know anyone else is even harder.
