Eh. Speaking as someone who played keyboards next to drummers in bands one too many times, it actually isn’t worth it. Tinnitus, losing consonants, barely 40. UGH.

I worked in a bar with loud music. Even when I could get them to turn down the music there are always random sounds that get amplified. you know the squeals and ear piercing screeches when they are tuning up. I bought a pair of ear plugs that have a little ball inside. They let me hear people ordering drinks but if someone banged a pot next to me the balls would close and block the louder sound. I found them at a music supply store in S.F. about 30 yr ago. We rehung our speakers for the disco, it didn’t need to be so loud.the trick was to move the bass speakers back. it takes 30 ft for the sound wave to carry before it’s heard. We had a separate set of horns to carry the high notes and the mixing board let me control the sound profile. After I sold my bar I find the music in other bars is so loud it’s painful! I’m really sorry I had let mine go :/
