About a decade ago I was doing genealogy research and stopped at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. The young lady that was helping me asked me where I was from and I said “Seattle”. She then asked me if that was close to Forks, which absolutely stunned me. I had grown up on the coast and had been there a few times but to be asked that question from somebody a couple of thousand miles away was just off-the-wall. She had to explain to me about “Twilight” which was almost as mind-boggling, a book set in Forks, the rainiest city in the lower 48.
