My grandparents left Poland during the communist revolution to escape a state takeover of their business. The irony is that all their children ended up on welfare in this country. When welfare was done away with in the 90’s their grandkids ended up in prison, except for my sister who inherited the family fortune, such as it is. Now I’m no economist, but I think it’s much more expensive to keep people in a cage than it was to let them roam free range with a stipend. But to stop a cycle of dependency, I think that stipend should be tied to real job training/education. Emphasis on real: none of that “this is how you write a resume” nonsense the Dept of Workforce development does now for TANF and foodshare participants.

Amazing that many of those who hate capitalism manage to monopolize sectors and fund anarchists.

I notice everyone seems to think the guy with the sign is the Socialist. To quote “Two Stupid Dogs”, “Well, isn’t that cute! BUT IT’S WRONG!!!”

Isn’t the guy with moneybag running on a socially financed sidewalk? Perhaps he’d like the socially financed police to remove the protestor?

Pure socialism doesn’t work, pure capitalism is worse (think: having to finance your own army to be safe), pure anarchy is probably the worst. What does work, is a sliding scale – more government help when times are bad, less when things are great. Socialism and capitalism aren’t absolutes.

Feed the poor!
