More and more businesses today want workers to communicate by Email, rather than walking to another’s cubicle, or office. Teens seem enamoured with texting. Sales on the Internet rise every year. Soon, AMAZON.COM’s little whirlybirds will be delivering many packages, using GPS. (Goodbye UPS, FEDX jobs!) My own brothers and sisters mainly communicate on Facebook. Job-seeking is done on the computers today. Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, supermarkets install ever more self-check-out registers. You can buy your groceries on-line, and have them delivered to your house/condo/apt. State auto Registries want you to apply or renew on their web-sites.Insurance companies won’t even pick up the phone anymore: just send you into a labyrinth of choices, ending with a frustrating slamming down of the phone!
We are building ourselves (or, having built for us?) a very impersonal, isolated world. And we wonder why so many flip out today!
