It’s just human nature, chronicled as law for these dudes in “the book”.

Spot on cartoon. Nothing is going to change unless those people put away their hatreds, or one annihilates the other…

You forgot to add that Israel is also pushing out said refugees in the West Bank to make room for more Israeli settlements.

Kudos to Mr Ariail for not favoring one faction over the other in this cartoon. Both sides play an active roll in continuing the cycle of violence. That cycle will never be broken until both sides are committed to peace.

Hamas must know that firing rockets at Israel is only going to result in very minimal casualties because of the Iron Dome defense. The only explanation I can think of for their continued massive rocket attacks is to trigger Israeli counterattacks and thus prejudice world opinion against Israel. Israel is foolishly falling into this trap, while Hamas has a completely callous disregard for its own people. It must be remembered that Hamas does not want peace with Israel, but solely Israel’s complete and utter destruction.

Let’s not have a false equivalence between the fireman and the fire. If Palestinians were to renounce violence and seek their remedy solely by petition they could achieve peaceful coexistence between the peoples very quickly. If Israelis were to renounce the use of force and sought peace solely by petition they would be wiped out.

All of this could have been avoided if the “Palestinians” had accepted the land and national identity that was offered to them in 1948. The Israelis did this at that time, however the Arab nations that surrounded the new state decided that war was a better option. All of this could have been avoided. The Palestinians don’t want peace.

How long does one continue to be a refugee? They started counting in 1948, as soon as the State of Israel was formed. Most of us don’t remember that there was to be a majority-Arab state born at the same time. We call it “Jordan”.

It is astounding that the large number of Arab states surrounding Israel (most of them awash in petro-dollars) would allow “refugees” to remain that way for close to 60 years; it’s hard to believe they care any more than the Israelis do.

And you are correct: Arabs now (or will soon) outnumber Jews in Israel. If Israel wants to remain a Jewish state, it has no choice other than to provide land for the Arabs to settle. Minority rule is almost never pretty.

^Your last paragraph, “play one” is exactly why folks who think Israel is a TRUE democracy, need their heads examined. Many ISRAELIS confess that allowing a true Arab vote, let alone allowing those kicked out to return, would end the myth, if allowed, and ARAB Palestinians, Christians and Muslims, would bring down a theocracy.

The IDF (Israeli “defense” Force) like our own Dept. of “defense”, is all about waging wars, not looking for peace, because THEIR corporate (now that their no longer purely state owned “defense” companies) true leaders demand profits just like ours.

BTW: another clarifier: Jon Stewart, reform Jew, pointed out last night very well why I have NO PROBLEM with those reform, or just sane, Jews, but do NOT support Likud, AIPAC or the radical (dangerous) factions in the “Zionist” “right” side.

Interesting. All the anti-Semitic hateful comments are coming from the oh so tolerant left here. Why am I not surprised?

Blah, blah, blah, blah. Israel is still displacing Muslims in the West Bank to make room for new Israeli settlements. If Canada had been given my state and forced me out, taken over the neighboring state I had moved to and then forced me out again, I’d probably be firing missiles at them as the Muslims are doing to Israel.

“Funny you should mention Canada. Which came out today fully behind Israel.”Good for freaking Canada. We can pull out of Israel all together and Canada can support them financially and militarily. While they’re at it, Canada can also criticize us for not supporting Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine or Russia’s campaign in Chechnya.

^ and ^^, If the actual recommendations of the Peel Commission, supplement to Balfour, had been accepted by the Zionist faction in 1948, things would have worked out better, perhaps. But then the actual Palestinians living in the area at the time would have gotten more land than the migrants arriving from Europe and the U.S..

Which, using “Semite” more accurately does make Arab and Jew, the less “religious” tribal association would also be more accurate, and less litigious.

“And just WHERE do we find the place at which the dispossessed Palestinians are to ‘peacefully petition for redress’?”-Perhaps they should ask the Indians, who peacefully resolved their grievances against the British Empire. Or African Americans, who in the early years of the Civil Rights movement were able to overcome oppressive laws without violence.

^You ARE aware of how many “freedom riders” and others in the cviil rights movement were murdered, right? Yep, no violence in those times, well coming from the civil rights marchers and advocates, so that’s pretty true. One sided conflicts suck.

I’m watching a story about this on ABC news (not Fox) and they show Palestinians celebrating rockets being fired towards Israel. The news shifts towards Israel’s Iron Drone (or dome?) which can shoot down most missles. They the camera shifts towards Israel who calls people in Palestine warning about a strike and then the Palestinians complains. Really? You expect the Jews to roll over and die? I don’t think your buddy Obama will convince the Jews, they went through that with Hitler and they won’t go through that again.
